So, if everyone is creating pages so easily, isn't the internet running out of space? On the news, a few months ago, there was a report on how the net is killing itself, and everyone is abusing the little space left. The fact is, there are too many people on the internet. There are too many pages.
The whole internet system is millions and billions of pages linked together. Each page takes up a certain amount of memory on the internet. Not many people know how the whole system works, because there are so many servers, so many pages, that there doesn't seem to be a main center, from where the internet is ruled and created.
Someone must do, because a few months ago a board of discussers, important people as such, decided that every person was entitled to ONE PAGE of internet space. They decided against it, as they thought it would be too difficult of a job to cut down all of those spare pages!
Imagine, that they had been able to do that. What would happen to all of the 'zines, the proffesional sites? I think that we can put the problem of the overload on net users down to advertisement. Every TV programme I watch has something to do with the internet on it. More people are taking the plunge into the internet every day.
Internet-know-it-alls are predicting that into the year 2000, the net will be totally different. Instead of pages, there will be virtual landscapes, virtual houses... Old style pages will be outdated. But will this come to light, if the net carries on working in overload. Everyone is hoping that someone will be able to do something, or everyone will suddenly lose interest in getting on the net.
What if it all fell apart tommorow? Think how many friends you would lose, think of all the fun you would miss.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
